If you leave the Conifer Path before it dead ends at Bussey Hill Road (I think that’s its name…) there’s a path that is close to the wall on Centre Street. Noisy, true, by Arboretum standards, but there are some neat trees there, including one of my favorites, the Osage Orange. Well, this isn’t that! This is a Persian Perrotia - thanks, Arb, for the tags! Obscure tree to say the least.

This shot is at the base of the tree and while it gives you little idea about the tree overall, it does highlight for me of the contrast between the dark brown of the bark and the spritely yellows and oranges of the fallen leaves. Also, there’s a hole, I always enjoy those!

The textures and colors play together quite gently here. At first it seemed relatively bland but the more I looked the more I noticed a community of colors and textures. Nothing much deeper than that today…
