Triumph?

This pond, Cutler Pond, was almost hidden from view. The path was, in several places, flooded so it was difficult to get close to the water for an unobstructed view. The dense, green growth close to the water’s edge provided just a hint of the scale of the pond.

There was one spot that was close to the water, although the pond itself was still obscured. There were some remnants of graffiti’d concrete embankments whose purpose was not clear. It took a while before I saw the concrete - it blended so well with the roots and trees and leaves.

I’m usually inclined to see a composition like this as a story of the triumph of the natural world over human endeavors. Yet here, the natural world seems to be hurting, at least at this moment. Wounded trees and exposed roots. Perhaps it’s a draw…
