Long time looking...

I’ve looked at this image for a while and even though I’m the one who took it, it still is confusing to me. I was standing on a footbridge over the Neponset River. There were three elements that I wanted to include in the shot, and they were all reflections - of the cloud in the water; of the weeds floating in the water; and of the shrubs and trees on the bank. To add to the complication, I was using my iPhone and trying to stand clear of the cyclists on the bridge.

All of this is in front of me as I look at this image. So I’m not yet clear on what I think of it. I worked for quite a while in post-production to balance the various elements. Perhaps this also colors my reaction to the shot.

There are some shots that take my breath away the first time I see them. Others, the majority actually, require some distance from their creation for me to know how I feel about them. This is one of those. I’ll see in a month or so what my reaction is.

And you?
