Walls
Last week, walking down my street toward the Pond, I came across this stone wall, one that I’ve passed every time I’ve walked to or from Centre Street for the past 8 years. But in spring, even an old retaining wall can take on greater delights.
Yes, I have noticed the wall before but not with any real attention. Until that day, when the wall’s plain surface was overtaken by a colorful array of newly sprung plants. I was struck by the range of colors, such a tumult, a festival of colorful new or renewed life. Such exuberance!
The blessing was that I was able to look at something quite familiar to me but with new eyes, to see that which was new in that particular moment. I’m grateful to have passed by with eye and camera attuned to this new life!
