Ice or water?

Marc GoldringComment

As the year grows old, I walk around the Pond to the sight of the interplay of ice and water, made more striking by the wind. What an array of natural elements.

When I look from a distance, it’s hard to sort out what I’m looking at.

I like that.

I like that I am required to pay attention in order to discern what exactly is in front of me. I’ve gotten so used to making fast judgments as our world has required that of us more and more. Taking the time to bring objects into focus, to resolve into meaning, that’s actually a pleasure to witness, or, rather, to participate in.

The swirls and eddies of the wind-blown Pond can help me recapture some of my slow mind. It’s good to have it back.
