A special place
This place is not hidden. Most of my special places are off the path, far from crowds, making them seem hidden and special, mine. But not this one, far from it. Just beyond the beach at Jamaica Pond, the stone embankment, no longer the shoreline, creates a space for these trees, which to me seem to be yearning for the water.
I've been here with my camera before. In early spring I first saw this scene - it does look a bit like a stage to me - when the trees were devoid of leaves and there was less color in the land. Oddly, when I passed by today and took this shot, I didn't initially notice that it was the same place. The leaves with their soft blaze of color transformed the area sufficiently that it seemed new to me.
So maybe I'm wrong when I say this place isn't hidden. Ah, well, what matter! The pleasure is in finding the shift of seasons making familiar places new.
