I've been looking at trees a lot lately and I'm not sure why. Certainly they are no novelty, trees have been around for a long time and I even lived among them some several lifetimes ago. My recent images have captured and attempted to caress a chaos of branches and twigs, seeing the texture and the detail as an affirmation of the value of looking.
This time I noticed this tree's solid base, practical and enduring, with a history that I can only guess at. I know it has a connection to the blessed earth and it expresses its grace by circulating life-giving nutrients to even the smallest, most far-flung outposts of its huge self.
So yes, I notice the value of looking. And even more, I honor these common, humble, stable entities with which we share the planet.
